Clockwork Playwriting Contest - Steampunk themes

RULES

Plays may be on any subject and written in any style. Plays MUST be inspired by and include Steampunk themes, images, characters, or plots.

About Steampunk

Must not exceed 30 minutes - shorter works are preferred. Time will be strictly enforced.

Must be an original unpublished work, previously produced work okay.

Will be judged as to style, content, and concept. We are especially interested in comedies that could pair with a short burlesque piece - so adult humor is okay.

Cover page should include title, author’s name, address, telephone number, and email.

Scripts must be typed, double spaced on 8x10 (or A4 for international submissions) white papers. Hand written scripts will not be considered.

Must be in English or provide English translation for dialogue or stage direction in another language

Multiple entries may be submitted by an author.

Hard Copy Submissions ONLY. Script submissions should be stapled or bound. Scripts should be mailed to:

An Entry Form must accompany each submission. Entry Forms can be found at the Theatre’s web site http://LCCTheatre.hawaii.edu).

A $5.00 entry fee (check or money order) must accompany each script entry, made payable to:

UH Foundation, Friends of LCC Theatre.
(Entry fee is waived for Current University of Hawaii System Students or active members of the Dramatists Guild - you must provide proof of current enrollment or membership at time of submittal)

Scripts must be received by June 1, 2014.
Scripts will not be returned. Applicants will be informed by July 1, 2014, if their play is to be included in the Clockwork Festival.

No revisions will be accepted after the original submission.

Winning playwrights will have a funded production of their work. Production will take place in The Leeward Theatre’s Black Box Lab Theatre

The decisions of the judges will be final.

The Leeward Theatre and University of Hawaii System are not responsible for lost, damaged or not received scripts.

The Leeward Theatre will select a director who shall control all artistic interpretation of the script, casting and production. No script changes will be made without the playwright’s written approval.
