New Works Festival seeks 10 minute plays

(No web site available)

Ruddy Productions, a group of Meisner trained actors and emerging directors, are seeking submissions from up and coming writers to be showcased in our 'New Works Festival' on June 1st, 2014.

The themes of the festival are 'Arrivals & Departures' and 'Plan B'. We encourage writers to submit for either/both, and to use their creativity to express these themes in unique ways. All pieces should be NEW and unpublished/not yet produced work no longer than 10 minutes and characters should range between the ages of 18 to 35. Works can be one acts or short plays.

Our goal for the festival is to give strong writers a chance to have their work put up on its feet and showcased in front of an audience, to give our directors a chance to collaborate and help bring your piece to life, and to give our actors a chance to showcase their skill set within the context of a great story worth telling. We hope the festival creates a foundation of support for all artists involved, and promotes the further development of these pieces or other new work in the future.

Submissions should be sent to ruddyproductionsco@gmail.com by April 10th to be considered for the festival.

In subject heading: please put the Title, your name, and the theme.

The body of the email should contain the following:
  • An attachment of the complete work
  • Your name and contact information
  • The title and theme
  • A brief Synopsis of the play
  • The approximate running time
  • Character breakdowns
  • Set requirements (please keep it as minimal as possible)
After the new works are selected, we will immediately cast each selection. Rehearsals will be throughout April & May.
Our final production will be Sunday June 1st, 2014.
Location for our production is still TBD.

We will be compensating writers with full credit for their work on all public forums & advertising, 2 free tickets to our performance on June 1st and free beer/wine/snacks on the night of the show!
