NOTE: the $30 application fee is waived for NYCPlaywrights - mention you saw this notice on this NYCPlaywrights web site and you will not pay a submission fee.

Dear Friend in the Theatre:

The Midtown International Theatre Festival (MITF) is seeking sci-fi/horror projects for the 2014 Festival. By "sci-fi/horror" we mean plays or musicals derived from existing science-fiction and horror works (including but not limited to novels, movies, and plays) as well as new works in the same genres.

I've always been a sci-fi and horror fan. One of my favorite movies is DAY OF THE TRIFFIDS. I fell in love (briefly) at NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD. I used to read every issue of IF, ANALOG, and FANTASY & SCIENCE FICTION (that's dating me!). I'm sure you experienced similar experiences and milestones in your life.

The MITF is a DIY (Do-It-Yourself) theatre festival now in its 15th year. We produce it in Midtown Manhattan, for the last 11 years in the Theatre Building, 312 W. 36th St., which contains 5 theatres. There are 3 ways to enter the Festival: as a Short Subject (30 - 60 min.); as a full-length (60 - 90 min.; up to 120 min. for musicals); and in the Commercial Division, a select repertory for plays with commercial ambitions and desirous of a better schedule and more setup time. We encourage sci-fi/horror shows to enter in any category.

For more information about the MITF, please see our Web site at www.midtownFestival.org. The Festival Manual answers every question you could imagine, and more!

NOTE: The $30 application fee is waived for members of TRU and for NYCPlaywrights.

Dates are July 14 - Aug. 10.

Thanks,
John Chatterton
MITF executive producer
