Poison Apple Initiative is accepting submissions

web site

Poison Apple Initiative is accepting submissions of unproduced, production-ready work to premiere during its 2013-2014 season. Work that has received readings or workshops is encouraged.

ELECTRONIC SUBMISSIONS ONLY.

Please include:
-A .doc or .pdf copy of the script.
-A title page with contact information and a brief synopsis.

A few things:

-We tend to favor intermission-less plays. We think an hour-twenty is the perfect amount of theatre.

-Small, female-heavy casts requiring actors in the 18-40 age range are preferable.

-A PAI play has a dark sense of humor, a jagged bite, a bright imagination, and immediate social relevance on a large scale. "Kitchen sink" (featuring the returns of prodigal children, the sobering loss of a parent, or families being ripped asunder by dark secrets unearthed) isn't our bag. If it can be effectively filmed, it's not for us.

-No musicals, children's plays, or translations. Adaptations are welcome if they are less faithful and more a response to the original text (think Phaedra's Love by Sarah Kane.)

Selected playwrights will receive an honorarium of $450.
