An international festival of new, 10-minute plays
10 Plays! 10 Actors! 10 By 10!

A panel of judges will select 10 plays to showcase on
The ArtsCenter's Main-Stage Theatre July 5-21, 2013
 
The Submissions:
Please email new, original 10-minute plays with minimal set requirements.

Plays that have had no prior productions or with recent (last 2-3 years) production history are accepted.  Musical submissions with little or no accompaniment are accepted.   Monologues are not accepted. Plays that have been published are not accepted.

Playwrights may submit up to 2 plays in standard format (Courier or 12 pt font) in Word or PDF.

Send 2 separate emails for each play.

Email 1.
The subject line is the title of the play followed by the words 'contact info.'   (Example subject line: Fighting Mr. Right contact info).
The BODY of the email MUST include the title of the play and the playwright’s contact information (including playwright’s name, mailing address, phone(s), email).   Do not attach contact information as an attachment to this email. Send this email here.

Email 2.
The subject line and name of attached file is the title of the play.  (Example subject line: Fighting Mr. Right)
The attached file contains cast, set requirements, and script.  No contact information of any kind should be included in the script.  Send this email here.

When submitting two scripts four separate emails must be sent.  Please do not zip the files.

Submission Dates:
January 7, 2013-February 4, 2013
Submissions will start being accepted on January 7, 2013.  Plays submitted before this date will not be accepted.

Deadline:
Submissions must be received by the 5:00PM EST on February 4, 2013.  Plays will not  be accepted after this date and time.

We will notify the 25 semi-finalists by email and will post those titles on our website.

We will notify the 10 finalists by email and will post those titles on our website.

We are sorry we cannot respond to each individual playwright.

We will announce the final 10 productions by May 24, 2013.

The Award:
Playwrights receive an award of $100.

Playwrights' Gala: July 13, 2013
Playwrights who attend our Playwrights Gala on Saturday, July 13, 2013 will receive an additional $100 travel stipend. Participating playwrights are invited to a post-show discussion/reception and an overnight stay in Chapel Hill, NC.

The Space:
Our main-stage theatre is a 325-seat house with basic lighting and sound capabilities.

The Producer:
ArtsCenter Stage will provide directors, actors, designers, and technical crew for the festival.  The directors will contact the playwrights at the beginning of the rehearsal process.  For more information about The ArtsCenter visit our wesbite.

The Dates:
July 5-21, 2013, Thursdays-Sundays, Playwright Gala Saturday, July 13, 2013

The Production:
The ten final plays will be presented together as one evening of theatre.  All ten shows run each night and are performed by an ensemble of five men and five women.
