NYCPlaywrights June Play of the Month

Submissions are now being accepted for the June Play of the Month. The theme is monologues about summer. Up to three monologues will be selected, video-recorded and posted to the NYCPlaywrights web site.

The deadline is Sunday, June 3rd at 11:59 PM.

1. Send only one monologue per author to info@nycplaywrights.org

2. The script submission should be sent by email, with the monologue itself as a file attached to the email. File format should be in either Microsoft Word (.doc) or pdf. Most preferable is .pdf (Portable Document Format) because it will retain your original script formatting.

3. The monologue can be no longer than 1 page (not including any title page, setting info page, etc.)

4. The monologue page should be formatted with paragraph breaks as needed and the font size should be 12pt. Monologues that are longer than 1 page (not counting title page, etc.) will be rejected immediately. Yes, one page is not long. Make. every. word. count.

5. Make sure you have your name and your email address on the script - the title page before the monologue is the best location.

6. Monologues can be from anybody, anywhere in the world, but must be primarily in English (a few non-English phrases are acceptable, but the phrases must include English translations in production notes or stage directions.)

7. There is no fee for submission - and no payment given for the plays selected. Do not send a submission if you are expecting monetary compensation.

8. The NYCPlaywrights selection decision is final and NYCPlaywrights reserves the right to select no monologues, or fewer than the goal of three, from those submitted.

9. The monologue must have been written by the person making the submission.

10. The monologue can have had a previous production but cannot have been published.

11. All rights will remain with the playwright.

12. The selected monologue(s) will be videotaped and posted during the summer of 2012.

13. The video recording of each selected monologue will be posted to the NYCPlaywrights YouTube account and from there embedded into the NYCPlaywrights blog. The monologue's author will be asked to review the video recording and approve it before it is made public.

14. The monologue must reflect "summer" in some meaningful way.

15. To get an idea of the kinds of monologues we like, please see the video-recorded monologues on this page: http://nycp.blogspot.com/p/theatre-articles.html
