Seventh Annual Very Short Play Festival

NOTE: must be able to get to Northfield Minnesota to self-produce, but playwrights may be from anywhere.
The Northfield Arts Guild is proud to invite submissions for its Seventh Annual Very Short Play Festival (VSPF VII) to be held on April 27 and April 28, 2012. The Northfield Arts Guild Theater will host the festival.

Submissions cannot exceed TEN MINUTES IN LENGTH when ACTED FULLY on stage.
Writers of ANY AND ALL AGES are encouraged to submit their work. There are no restrictions on genre or content, just on the length of the play. Submissions can be complete short plays or stand-alone excerpts from longer works.

If selected, WRITERS will be required to PRODUCE their play for stage and PROVIDE their own ACTORS. Therefore, even if you live far away from Northfield, MN, you, as the playwright, will be responsible for getting your play to Northfield on April 27 and 28, 2012.

The selected youth plays (those rated G or PG) will be performed on Friday night, April 27. The selected adult plays (those rated PG-13 and up) will be performed on Saturday night, April 28.
On each performance night, each team will need to set up and clear the stage really quickly, and there will be only one 30 minute tech rehearsal per team. Thus, all technical elements of the play must be as minimalistic as possible.

You can submit you play either by email OR by ground mail.

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS: March 15, 2012.

Winning playwrights will be notified by email on or before March 30, 2012.
